Default Problem here too

I have the same problem, no server status data.

ZMControl gives:
Code:
zmcontrol status
        ldap Running
        mailbox Running
        mta Running
        snmp Running
        spell Running
However the cron is installed for the Zimbra user

Fresh install of 4.5.5 on RHEL 4 64 Bit

I cannot receive email at this point.

why does my zimbra server stop working properly every so often?

Does your server just stop functioning, or does the logger just die?

Default Same problem with the server status

I am running a fresh install of zcs-NETWORK-4.5.5_GA_838.RHEL4 on CentOS 5 and I have the same problem with the server status even if logger is running:

Code:
zmcontrol status
Host [private]
        antispam Running
        antivirus Running
        ldap Running
        logger Running
        mailbox Running
        mta Running
        snmp Running
        spell Running
When I log in with the admin user, I get this message "Server status data is not available. To see the server status, logger service must be installed."

vixie-cron, crontabs, logrotate, anacron and file are installed.

Is it a bug? If not, what am I suppose to check?

Thanks,

Djeebee

Two problems with this, CentOS is not a supported platform for the Network Edition and RHEL5 (CentOS5) isn't supported for the Network Edition until the next major release.

However, if this is just for testing then you should search the forums for details of how to install Zimbra on CentOS5. FWIW, I have the OSS version running on my system without problems.

Default Same problem on new openSuSE 10.2 installation

I have just installed Zimbra 4.4.5 GA on a fresh installation of openSuSe 10.2 server.

Everything is working, except in the admin web page, the server status shows the following text:
Code:
"Server status data is not available. To see the server status, logger service must be installed"
When I do zmcontrol status I get the following:
Code:
zimbra@myhost:~> zmcontrol status
Host myhost.selfip.org
        antispam Running
        antivirus Running
        ldap Running
        logger Running
        mailbox Running
        mta Running
        snmp Running
        spell Running
zimbra@myhost:~>
Notes:
  1. I have checked, and cron is installed and the zimbra crontab is populated.
  2. I originally installed it on a full graphical KDE system and the server status displayed correctly. I reinstalled on a full network console-only version and the status info is missing.
What can I check out next?

Thanks for your help. This is great software.

Regards,

Try looking in /var/log/cron and /var/log/secure. I had a problem where my PAM configuration was preventing the zimbra user from being able to run cronjobs (resulting in the same state of no logs you are experiencing), but those logfiles helped me resolve the issue.

It's a bug. We think we have it fixed.
