OS X Server 10.4.3 install issues

Firstly, all is up to date, OS X Server 10.4.3, no outstanding updates in software update. It is a relatively new OS installation.

Logging in as root, I have had the same problems as others, the postinstall script failure.

I used workgroup manager to create a zimbra user with no password - still no joy.

I downloaded and installed the java 5 SE - still no joy.

Any next steps I should try?

Some people have had luck cleaning up completely, then running the installer twice:

rm -rf /opt/zimbra/*
rm -r /Library/Receipts/zimbra-*

Run installer (fails)
Run installer (succeeds)

Still no joy, I still get the "run postinstall script for zimbra store utilities"

Looking at one of the previous posts about running zmsetup.pl - as i understand it is the postinstall script in question...

So is the problem the symlink that it is expecting?

In this case, the postinstall script is in the package, it's not referring to zmsetup.pl.

WHat does java -version return?

Did you try creating the zimbra user by hand, and re-installing?

Check the forums for other posts on updating java and having 1.5 be the default on the mac.

I've changed the symlink, rebooted, removed /opt/zimbra and the reciepts...

The zimbra user doesn't exist:

Ok, got it sorted:

FYI if one creates the zimbra user via the Workgroup Manager, it will fail... however if the user is created using the accounts ppref pane in the system preferences, it will finish the install correctly.
