Default Zimbra NW on Ubuntu Server OS 64 or 32 Bit ?

Hello,

I know there where maybe similar question, but just to clarify:

What is the SUPPORTED and recommended Zimbra Network Edition install on a 64bit Hardware with Ubuntu ?
Even when the zimbra package is 32bit make it sense and is it official supported to use the 64bit OS?

Cite:
....At the moment the supported operating systems are RHEL4 (32 & 64bit), SLES9, MAC OS X and Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS - they're all 32bit except RHEL4...

QUESTION:
If I do a fresh zimbra install on 64 bit Hardware [64bit AMD and Intel computers] should I use :
a) OS32bit : Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS - i386
b) OS64bit : Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS - amd64
to install the zimbra package on it ?

Many thanks, your statement would be really helpful.

Cheers
Christian

*Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS is available in 64bit of course - Supported to 2011

Hopefully you won't get mad at me, but if you want 64 bit support, then I'm going to recommend that you upgrade to RHEL64 with the 64bit Package.

If you can't afford it, use CentOS.

None of your options will work without problems.

If you MUST use ubuntu, then you need to install the 32 bit version with the 32 bit package.

Of course, you can build it your self.

Instuctions in the wiki.

Hi jholder,

I'll not go mad with you , just hoped that I can use (supported) 32bit package on 64bit OS

But fair enough then I've to go with 32 bit version with the 32 bit package.

Cheers, have a good week
