Yes, that is how I would have it. I've seen other references to the way you had it before, but I think this way is more specific (the wiki page on DNS shows it the same way I have suggested). Not sure if it will fix your problems, but it's worth a shot. Remember to also check your system logs after you restart DNS.

Thanks SoxFan, I checked the syslogs and no error messages related to DNS.

However host `hostname` still doesn't work.

Are you sure you've added a 'search forexmgr.com' line to your /etc/resolv.conf file, as Bill suggested a few posts back? I just disabled the search line in my resolv.conf file to test, and got the exact same message you are getting. I'm not sure on Ubuntu, but the resolv.conf file may get overwritten at startup; you may need to change another configuration file somewhere.

Default It's over!

Hi guys,

I just wanted to thank Bill and SoxFan for all of your help. Unfortunately the boss pulled the plug on using linux and zimbra today. He wants the solution up pronto and so we are going with a cheap mail server app on windows.

Just wanted to say I appreciated your help and patience.
