Default Pulling my hair out - SASL Login authentication failed

Okay,

I have been working this issue for a week and I have yet to figure out what is a miss. Our test units with Outlook Express, Mac Mail work fine no issues with authentication and mail inside the network, but when I use it outside through my WM5 phone with IMAP and SMTP configuration I get SASL errors.

I also get this with Mac client when coming in from the public internet.

What is missing please help...

I have check Zimbra Forums, Postfix, and SASL background.

Additional info:

The IMAP side works it is only the SMTP outgoing mail that doesn't.. So I can get my mail and not send anything...

Sounds to me like you need to enable TLS/SSL on the mobile device.

Well this is where I am so far, I have it up and running with the following changes:

added to main.cf

smtpd_sasl_local_domain =

added to saslaauthd.log_level: 3

pwcheck_method: saslauthd
mech_list: PLAIN LOGIN

Disable TLS Authentication only, then restarted and it worked..

I have SSL enabled on my device with IMAP no problem, testing with SMTP and all seems good, but I will see..

I will see with chaining mech_list, etc will retain the settings.
