| | Good Old LDAP Howdy,
Well I did it.
Right now, this second, I am stuck at the "Main Menu" with the following error:
Checking ldap on localhost:389...FAILED
Checking ldap on localhost:389...FAILED
-----------------
Then the menu.
Any Ideas? |

| | New install? Old install? The setup script thinks that ldap is configured, but it can't contact it - and it starts it before checking.
So - was this a failed install you're trying to recover? If that's the case, delete the files in /opt/zimbra/openldap-data (but leave the directory) and re-run /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmsetup.pl
If this is an upgrade, can you tell me what you did to get there? |

| | Hi,
Well, Kind of both. (upgrade and fail); however, It failed the first time too.
All I did was run the prep upgrade script. It went great. Then I ran the m2 script..and I got here. (I'm ssh'ed in), and I selected the text(the error), and hit crtl-c for copy (so I could paste it here....well...it stopped the script...so I ran it again. It found config.save and restored it.
Now, if I delete that file, can I re-configure ldap from the "Main Menu"? |

| | Also I can telnet on the machine and remotly to port 389 using 127.0.0.1, the actual ip, and the FQDN
I'm wondering if this is related to the ldaps posting that you had. |

| | ldap password Here's what probably happened - the ldap password was saved from the original install, but the subsequent failures have gotten it out of sync.
zmlocalconfig -s | grep ldap - is ldap_password set to zimbra?
If it it - look in /tmp, for several directories called saveconfig - they will have a file called config.save in them - find the one from your original install, with an ldap password OTHER than "zimbra".
If you find that file, use zmlocalconfig to set the ldap password, mysql passwords, etc, and re-run zmsetup. |

| | Heh. I thinks you're right:
[root@(domain here) ~]# su zimbra
[zimbra@t(domain here) root]$ zmlocalconfig -s | grep ldap
ldap_host = (domain here)
ldap_is_master = true
ldap_master_url = ldap://(domain here):389
ldap_port = 389
ldap_root_password = GAbVcK4hoy3fmz5BbDUqf9.Phu
ldap_url = ldap://(domain here):389
zimbra_ldap_password = ARAzswyj_8gC0ZD5GZGWrzE10MZ
zimbra_ldap_userdn = uid=zimbra,cn=admins,cn=zimbra
zimbra_services = ldap mailbox mta antivirus antispam snmp
-------------------
Now, I changed my config via that other post. Do I need to change it back?? |

| | | I'm running the gamut of all the problems during this upgrade, even after reading people upgraded with no problems. I'm having the same error.
Checking ldap on localhost:389...FAILED
my password was not set to zimbra, I'll keep trying but getting frustrated. |

| | I know the feeling.
I've tried resetting the pw, and it doesn't fix it. I think it is an issue with syncing though.
I'm gonna try something. It if works (or not) I'll let you know.
(I love testing)

update: Pretty sure I'm gonna loose it all if this doesn't work....
