Default My Situation

Hello,

I have kind of a weird deal going on. I registered my domain through a hosting company I host my website with. I have full control over the domain and what not, so I decided I wanted to run a Zimbra server. However, I need to use Dynamic DNS since I do not have a static IP.

Is there a way to do this?

I have tried creating an MX record that points to the DynDNS address, but Zimbra keeps saying it cannot resolve. I followed the installation guides to the best of my ability and I thought I did everything right, but something is snagging it.

So I was just curious if its even possible to use DynDNS in this manner. I will provide any information needed if it gives anybody any ideas.

Thanks.

Yes it is. I think DynDNS provides a premium service to help out with that.

What about the server you have hosted? Is that a linux machine? Do you have full control over it? If so, you may just want to install it using SSH.

If not, then you're gonna need to work out your DNS with DynDNS, but I know of several users in the forums who run that.

Yes I have full control over the server. It is an Ubuntu 6.10 server that I have already got Zimbra setup on, however, I am getting a DNS ERROR during the config portion of the install, so its just a matter of figuring out how to use DynDNS this way. So that I don't get this error.

The other thing I will probably eventually need to do is change it so the outgoing mail server is that of my ISP since they block port 25.

I also signed up for DynDNS's Custom DNS service, so I believe this is the premium service. Its the best they have from what I can tell.

Also if there is a tutorial or a guide somewhere in regards to using DynDNS with Ubuntu and Zimbra I would appreciate a link to that if possible.
