Default Linux Live CD?

Hey guys,

it would be awesome if there would be a Linux Live CD with a ready to use zimbra server. I don't think it would be too hard for you unix experts to do that? Just grab a Live CD from Knoppix/Kubuntu or whatever and install it... make an bootable image and we all have lots of fun! :-)

Then we could test it "out of the box" in VMWare or Parallels!

Thanks.

SA.

Hey,

thanks for the reply.

I don't have VMWare nor I have Windows on my Mac or Linux.

I read the pdf about VMWare.. and it seems not to be a "out of the box" solution.

Greets.

You don't need windows for VMware, there's a VMware server (free) for Linux. Anyway, you're not likely to get a live cd for any version other than a (currently) available operating system but I don't think it's going to happen.

VMWare is about as 'out of the box' a solution as you could possibly get. I'll explain:

The VMWare player can be downloaded for free at http://www.vmware.com/products/player/ Install that on your linux OR WINDOWS machine, grab the pre-built VMWare appliance from http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliance...ry/zimbra.html , boot it, set a few variables (I am making some HUGE assumptions here regarding this 'appliance'), and wham, bam, thank you m'aam, you have a running Zimbra server. I don't think it could get much easier. . .

It can be. . . but you'll have to wait for the Zimbra Brain Inplants. We're gonna beam e-mail directly to the back of your cornea.

We call it: Zimplants(TM) - pre-Alpha
