hi guys, i am a new member of Zimbra during when i read all treads i cant see if it is possible install the Zimbra and test its functionality in a Locan Area Network without using internet..
If you don't want any mail delivery to/from external servers then yes, it's possible. Just install ZImbra and don't enable 'use DNS lookups' in the admin ui.
hi bro, the manual says like this: "During the installation process ZCS cheLocal installationcks to see if you have an MX record correctly configured. If it is not an error is displayed suugesting that the domain name have an MX record configured in DNS"
do i ignore the error and proceed installation? or what else shoud i do?
The easiest thing is to set-up a local dns server with a local (i.e. non internet) domain name and point that towards your zimbra server. Check the forums & wiki for some set-up instructions.
There's a thread called 'DNS in a nutshell' that will tell you what you need to know, search the forums for it. There's also some information in the wiki.
