Default Publish an LDAP directory only as an address book

Hello,

I've been playing around with zimbra installation for a little while now and it's fully functionnal. Great piece of work. Really.

My zimbra server is using its own GAL for auth and for addresssing.

I would like to use another ldap directory only for addressing purpose. For example : I would like my zimbra users to be able to browse that directory for email writing.

Can I do that ? Is there someone to explain me ?

Thanks a lot.

Emmanuel

If you mean use an alternate LDAP for the GAL then just go to the Admin UI, COS for the Domain and hit the 'Configure GAL' button and follow the wizard. You can select whether it uses your LDAP or Zimbra or both for address lookups. Is that what you're after.

No, in fact I would like to add an extra address book which is an LDAP directory located on another server.

Thanks for your help.

Then I'm slightly confused about what you want.

Do you mean you already use an external LDAP as the GAL and you want to use a second external LDAP as your GAL? If that's what you're after then I don't believe it can be done.

I use the internal GAL for authenticating and addressing in my zimbra server.

What I would like to add is sort of an extra address book which has an LDAP backend. Exactly the same way as you would add an LDAP address book in your thunderbird/mozilla/outlook/other mail client But this one for the webmail part of zimbra.

I don't know if I made me clear Sorry !

Yes, you made it clear. You need to follow the instructions in my earlier post. Configure an additional LDAP server via the GAL Wizard in the Admin UI.

How did this work for you? I have a similar need. To use external LDAP server as an additional address book during migration.

What more do you need to know? Just follow the wizard in the Admin UI to set an external LDAP as the GAL.

Default Need a trusted CA to connect to external LDAP server

My Zimbra server needs to connect to an external LDAP server for authentication. However, the LDAP server requires a trusted CA to connect to it. Where on my Zimbra server should I put the certificate of the external LDAP server? On my other regular Apache website which uses that LDAP authentication, I put the following two lines to httpd.conf:

LDAPTrustedCA /path/to/certificate_of_thatldapserver
LDAPTrustedType BASE64_FILE

And the authentication works for me!

Thanks!
