Red face Steps For authentication with windows

Hi All,

please can any one help me on the steps essential to complete the zimbra authentication with windows:

- Install zimbra system on red hat OS.
- Install Samba application.
- Install Active directory on a windows server
- Start the authentication wizard.

i am pretty sure that there are many missed steps .

Any help would be appreciated,
Thank you

Ergl.

I'll see it the other way round : do you already have (or not) an Active Directory ?
If the answer is no, why do you want one (just to handle Zimbra's users password might not be the right answer) ?

BTW, you don't Samba to run on the RH server hosting Zimbra to have authentication working against an AD.

So you just need to setup Zimbra on your RedHat server.

Then, for each domain that needs it, you "play" with the Authentification Wizard. Nothing else is needed (especially no Samba).

I think the Most Imoprtant Question will be:
If I add users in the active directory, are these users automatically created on the Zimbra system?

Not at all.
There's no automagical provisioning between the AD and the Zimbra server.

Each time you create an account in the AD, you'll have to create an account in the Zimbra server (anyway, you'll have to select the correct Class of Service for this accounts, maybe aliases, etc).

Of course you can.
But AFAIK there's no such script available to the community yet.

So actually, if i want to automatically save the AD new users on my Zimbra system, i should create or search for unofficial scripts.

Default Zimbra NE Admin Guide.pdf

I was checking the documentation file Zimbra admin guide, section: External LDAP and External Active Directory Authentication Mechanism.

In this file it mentioned that i can bind the Zimbra system to an active directory "The zimbraAuthLdapURL attribute contains the URL of the Active Directory server to bind to."

The bind doesn’t include updating the Zimbra system in parallel with active directory
