Default Zimbra on Suse Linux x64

Hello. I want to install Zimbra on a 64bit version of Linux Suse.
When is a version going to be released?

Is the professionell available in 64 then too?

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forums.

The answer to your question is: it probably isn't in the near future, if at all. No, there isn't a 64 bit for NE either.

Question Why short-term no plans for 64bit SUSE Linux?

It is impossible to buy 32bit hardware anymore, so all new servers have to be 64bit hardware. Dell for example do not provide 32bit drivers for their RAID controllers and other bits.

64bit OSes IMHO are gaining serious traction. So why are there no plans in the short-term (ie. <6 mths) for 64bit SLES support?

I didn't say there weren't plans for 64bit SLES just that there isn't a 64bit at the moment.

OK, I'm confused. Is there a plan to release a supported version of Zimbra NE for SLES 64bit in the next 6 months (short-term)? Or is it longer 6 months+ away.

Any idea?

Quick question re installing on an AMD 64bit computer...

If Zimbra is 32bit only, should I install SLES 64bit version or SLES 32bit version?

Default Any news about the 64bit-version?

The last post was written months ago.. so, are there any news about a 64bit-(open source)-version?

I have the same 'problem': a 64bit Suse, running on an quite new Dell-server.

Thanks and regads,
Björn Witt

Welcome to the forums.

The answer is in my post above, there isn't a 64bit version for SuSE. The only currently available version for SuSE is 32bit. If you specifically want a 64bit version now then install the RHEL version or CentOS (if you have the OSS version).

Zimbra has strong links to Red Hat. So IMHO there is no strong motivation to aid the competition, ie. SuSE. So do not expect a SuSE Enterprise Linux 10 version of Zimbra in the next 12 months.

I'd be quite happy to be proved otherwise tho! (hint hint)

What's that supposed to mean? SuSE is a platform used by our customers just the same as RHEL, there's no bias for one platform or the other.

Where did you ever get that timeline from? I'd be interested to know why you think that the next major version is 12 months away.

Have you, or anyone else, actually voted on the buugzilla RFEs for 64bit?
