Default Ahh! Restored from backup and now zmcontrol asks for a password

I tried 4.0.2 -> 4.5.2 and that failed, so I rsync'd my backup back to the production machine and now I get:

Code:
sent 2735617319 bytes received 909372 bytes 896487.04 bytes/sec
total size is 9871857727 speedup is 3.61
[root@stud zimbra_backup]# su - zimbra
[zimbra@stud ~]$ zmcontrol start
Host stud.orlandini.us
        Starting ldap...Password:
I tried up "zmldappasswd --root passwd" as both zimbra user and root and neither of them fixed this.

I'm completely down! Help

Looks like a permissions issue.
Run the installer from the version that you installed, and run it as an upgrade. That *should* fix it. . .
Make sure you have your backup

Default fixed

I tried to do the upgrade install, but it complained that it didn't find any of the packages. So, I moved /opt/zimbra to /opt/old_zimbra. Then I installed 4.0.2 from scratch. Shut it down and moved /opt/zimbra to /opt/new_zimbra and moved /opt/old_zimbra to /opt/zimbra. Then I did a restart and I'm back up.

Whew!

Now the question is, why does my 4.0.2 upgrade to 4.5.2 fail.
