Is there an upgrade process for the Outlook connector when going from 4.5.0 to 4.5.2? Is it even necessary?

Yes, simply run the 4.5.2 msi to upgrade. You'll want to stay up to date with the latest connector version to get the latest bug fixes.

We like to keep things streamlined.
You can always build the source for the OSS off of SVN, but that's OSS only, not NE.

So, as an answer, no.
