Default problem running zimbra

hi,

i have just installed the open source edition of Zimbra (zcs-4.0.4_GA_457.SuSE10) for suse 10 but, in fact I'm using SUSE10.2 (i don't think there is a problem with that) ..

i couldn't open the zimbra administrator console using my server and domain name (linux.site) so i suspected that tomcat is not running so i tried to start it and i had the following error :

ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: getDirectContext) (cause: javax.naming.CommunicationException localhost:389)
ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: getDirectContext) (cause: javax.naming.CommunicationException localhost:389)

so now what can i do ??

i read other posts about problems that seems like that but i couldn't solve my problem , and i noticed some thing else :

i can't find the following files : zimbra.log nor the tomcat log files (is their a problem with that)

also when i run the following command in the shell : zmcontrol status
i get the following : Cannot determine services - exiting (what does it mean ??)

and when i type zmcontrol start i get the following : Host hanysys.site (just that !!)

and when i type zmcontrol stop i get the following :
Host hanysys.site
Stopping mta...Done
Stopping spell...Done
Stopping snmp...Done
Stopping antivirus...Done
Stopping antispam...Done
Stopping imapproxy...Done
Stopping mailbox...FAILED
Error: assertion '-r /opt/zimbra/conf/my.cnf' failed

Stopping logger...Done
Stopping ldap...Done

so , any one can help me to run zimbra .

sorry, i know it was a very long mail but I'm a new user to zimbra and my knowledge with it is very tiny .

thx

Default Hosts

Her is the output :

zimbra@hanysys:~> cat /etc/hosts
#
# hosts This file describes a number of hostname-to-address
# mappings for the TCP/IP subsystem. It is mostly
# used at boot time, when no name servers are running.
# On small systems, this file can be used instead of a
# "named" name server.
# Syntax:
#
# IP-Address Full-Qualified-Hostname Short-Hostname
#

127.0.0.1 localhost

# special IPv6 addresses
::1 localhost ipv6-localhost ipv6-loopback

fe00::0 ipv6-localnet

ff00::0 ipv6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ipv6-allnodes
ff02::2 ipv6-allrouters
ff02::3 ipv6-allhosts
192.168.1.4 hanysys.site hanysys

thx

Yes, there's people here and they'll get around to helping you when they can. Did you search the forums or wiki for some information on this problem?

Disable ipv6 on the zimbra server. This error
Quote:
ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: getDirectContext) (cause: javax.naming.CommunicationException localhost:389)
means that it can't contact LDAP. Have a search of the forums for that problem and look in the wiki for LDAP troubleshooting steps.
