    Lightbulb can send but cant receive

    I have looked through the forum, I haven't found the solution. I will keep looking.

    I am using Ubuntu 12.04 Server 64-bit and Zimbra 8.0.6.GA.5922 OSE.

    I can send emails to external accounts, (i.e. my hotmail account) but I can't receive (whether from an external email or on the same server. I have looked in zimbra.log and its coming up with this error

    Apr 1 09:12:24 postfix/lmtp[24108]: 43FC2C213F2: to=>, relay=none, delay=1188, delays=1188/0.01/0/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to .[]:7025: Connection refused)

    Incidentally I am setting up this email server to replace the existing one. The live server has the same hostname and MTA as the one I am setting up. I suspect this would be the issue?

    When I try to log in through webmail it comes back with 'A network service error has occurred.' I have seen other posts as regards to this but nothing suggested has helped.

    Is there any other required info?

    The MTA has just fallen over. not starting properly. Looking as to why. its not starting properly. error in log file is:

    Apr 1 11:51:30 postfix/postqueue[13953]: fatal: Queue report unavailable - mail system is down
    Checked nothing else is using the ports. Checked the permissions and used zmpermfix -extended -verbose as root. I have tried deleting master.pid and rebooting so it recreates it.

    Not sure why its just fallen over, I was doing something else where completely unrelated, came back to the server and postfix\mta had fallen over :-/

    Here is my hosts file

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    127.0.1.1 (host.domain) (host)
    (ip of server I am setting up) (host.domain) (host)

    fe00::0 ip6-localnet

    Your hosts file is incorrect and this subject has been covered many time in the forums, go to the Split DNS wiki article and read about the requirements of a Zimbra server, you can check the configuration of DNS by running all the commands in the 'Verify...' section of that article. You should also post the exact content of those files otherwise nobody can tell you if they are incorrect, or not.

    I noticed you posted this in the first post:

    Yes, that will cause you problems and you should not have both servers with the same FQDN.

    I realize that its been covered in the past, I have tried what I have seen. Maybe there are ones I've missed with different solutions?

    Here are the different parts from that wiki link

    I notice its trying to resolve to the live email server hence my comment

    I realize there is still issues with the hosts file, but postfix falling over I suspect is a different issue as its been able to be running since Christmas and I have done reboots on the server as well and its only now its decided to fall over, so I feel there are several issues in play here.

    That would be incorrect and hence my comment about 'problems' You need valid A & MX records and the hosts file needs to be correct for a full installation of ZCS and it doesn't matter whether it's 'been working' or not - these problems need to be resolved. Why are you actually trying to run two server on the same LAN (I assume) with the same FQDN? I mentioned earlier that you need to provide the full output of the commands and that includes IP addresses otherwise we are just guessing whether your settings are correct.

    I had to alter hosts file to get the install of Zimbra OSE to work, I realise its still not correct. I am setting up one server to replace the live server. The live server is SME 7 and the new server I am setting up is Zimbra. I only took out ips and host names before for security reasons, but I realise that adds in too much guessing

    I can therefore assume this is for a migration to a ZCS server? As they're running in the same domain (you don't need to same FQDN on the Zimbra server) and on the same LAN you'll need a Split Domain configuration (details in the wiki) as well as the Split DNS with valid A & MX records and a corrected hosts file for a working ZCS installation.

    It doesn't make any diffeence that the outside world knows your LAN IP address and thanks for adding the information.

    Your hosts file is still incorrect and doesn't match the examples on the Split DNS wiki article, specifically this line:

    Code:
    10.12.14.39 eserver.abacuscover.com mail
    It should be:

    Code:
    10.12.14.39 eserver.abacuscover.com eserver
    You are also using the incorrect dig command, you are using the FQDN of the server not the domain name.
    Regards
