Please see this bug:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223719

Not a zimbra bug, a suse bug.

Use yast2

Got the same err "su returned with an error", when starting the File manager in SuperUser mode.

Looks like Zimbra alters the file /etc/sudoers file. Could this cause the problem, but how was it supposed to be?

Zimbra's install seems to alter the /etc/sudoers file when installing the RPMs. Once it gets to the configuration menu, it doesn't alter it any more and you can jump to another console and switch it back to have the install finish correctly.

Initially, the permissions on my sudoers file was 0640.
Code:
chmod 640 /etc/sudoers
Take a look at this thread about SUSE and Zimbra for more information.

Hope this helps.

Unhappy

Thanks for the info, unfortunatly Zimbra is still not working.
I followed your instructions
  • reinstalled Zimbra
  • chmod -> can start Yast again
  • changed the init.d/zimbra file

When I look with ps, I don't see any zimbra processes (assuming that zimbra is in the name of the process)
When I try to connect to the admin console through "https:// .... :7071", I also get a connection error.
When I try to check the status with zmcontrol /status, I get an error "Cannot determine services - exiting", although it seems I stop/start the services without problems (i think)

If you would please like to help me

Please let me know if you need more info, thx a lot.

Red face

Ohoh, stupid me... I forgot to give the password during install.

I ran the /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmsetup.pl script again and entered the password.

Looks much better now

Thanks for your help MidSpeck!
