Default dns issue with suse 10.2 and issue with bind

after installation i am having issues with dns.
If i check the enable dns i can send mail out but incoming mail is rejected and sent back to the sender with the following:

"
This is the Postfix program at host bkupserv.wansolutions.com.

The Postfix program

: Host or domain name not found. Name service error
for name=bkupserv.domain.com type=A: Host not found

If i turn off enable dns in the mta tab it will recieve mail from everyone but then it can not send as it seems unable to lookup the domains.

I tried installing bind (version that normally comes with suse 10.2) but after installation named will not start and returns the following

named: error while loading shared libraries: libldap-2.3.so.0: failed to map segment from shared object: Operation not permitted

any ideas on how i can solve my dns issue so that i can recieve or get bind working so that i can resolve myself would be appreciated.

thanks

Do you have the openldap libraries installed on your machine? Do you have another server that you could run your DNS server on?

im not sure about the openldap libraries....i didnt choose to install but not sure if something in the base install might have them....ill look into that.

Yes i have another server i could run dns and the mta. For now i setup relay. i could leave this setup, its acceptable but just thought maybe there was another solution.

Are you hosting your own DNS/Split DNS?

If so, you need to add a hostname A Record in it.

What ever server is listed in /etc/resolv.conf need the host A Record.

I configured my own dns-server here with bind. It's on the same machine as the zimbra installation.
And it works fine. unless i install zimbra an try to restart bind after that...

Zimbra installs fine, and as long as i dont restart 'named' everyone can connect to the zimbra-server.
But when i stop the named and want to resart it i get:

named: error while loading shared libraries: libldap-2.3.so.0: failed to map segment from shared object: Operation not permitted

I can only restart Bind if i first uninstall zimbra !

In fact on my opensuse 10.2 there are other libldap files in /usr/lib, but there's not much i can do about them...suse seems to need them...

And even if i configure the libldap-2.3.so.0 link to point at /opt/zimbra/lib/ there will be no relief to the situation.

I am absolutely stuck here...
Thanx for your help
Sascha

/opt/zimbra/openldap/lib is in my /etc/ld.so.conf:

/usr/X11R6/lib/Xaw3d
/usr/X11R6/lib
/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib=libc5
/usr/i386-suse-linux/lib
/usr/local/lib
/opt/kde3/lib
/opt/gnome/lib
include /etc/ld.so.conf.d/*.conf

/etc/ld.so.conf.d/zimbra.ld.conf:

/opt/zimbra/lib
/opt/zimbra/sleepycat/lib
/opt/zimbra/openldap/lib
/opt/zimbra/cyrus-sasl/lib

ldconfig -v |grep libldap gives :

ldconfig: Can't stat /usr/X11R6/lib/Xaw3d: No such file or directory
ldconfig: Can't stat /usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib: No such file or directory
ldconfig: Can't stat /usr/i386-suse-linux/lib: No such file or directory
ldconfig: Can't stat /opt/kde3/lib: No such file or directory
libldap_r-2.3.so.0 -> libldap_r.so
libldap-2.3.so.0 -> libldap.so
libldap_r-2.3.so.0 -> libldap_r.so
libldap-2.3.so.0 -> libldap.so
libldapcpp.so.0 -> libldapcpp.so.0.0.4
libldap_r-2.3.so.0 -> libldap_r-2.3.so.0.2.7
libldap-2.3.so.0 -> libldap-2.3.so.0.2.7

ls -lh /opt/zimbra/lib/libldap.so
/opt/zimbra/lib/libldap.so -> libldap-2.3.so.0.2.22

ls -lh /opt/zimbra/openldap-2.3.34/lib/libldap.so
/opt/zimbra/openldap-2.3.34/lib/libldap.so -> libldap-2.3.so.0.2.22
