Default Multiple Domain Questions

Hi guys,
Setting up multiple domains on my server. All appears to go well, everything working. When I try to setup Outlook to retrieve the pop email, I find the server settings to be curious.
My incoming server is set to mail.seconddomain.com. However; my outgoing server must be set to mail.mailservername.com in order for it to work. Is this common and proper? The reason I ask is I am accustomed to setting the incoming and outgoing servers to the same thing (mail.domainname.com).
As long as this is usual and customary, I won't worry about it.
Please advise.

Thanks,
Layne

Have you tried using:

username@seconddomain.com for your authenticated smtp username? Does that still not work?

Default Tried it

Sure, I tried that. It is because it did not work that I decided to start this thread.
To be clear:
the login: username@seconddomain.com is only recognized (and therefore processed) when the SMTP mail server is set to mail.mailservername.com.

This seems odd to me...

The smtp server for the second domain should resolve to mail.seconddomain.com...right?

Seems odd to me as well, I don't quite understand how you've set this up.

You have multiple domains set-up on your zimbra server? You have correct DNS records to point to mail.yourdomain.com - that's the address you use for all the domains. I have multiple domains on my server and they all go through the same SMTP server (outbound) address.
