Cannot login as admin after install

Hello all,

I installed zimbra and, I think, it is well started.

I can reach https://myserver:7071/ but when giving it my admin login and password it does not connect me to the admin panel.

Any Idea ?

PS : all zimbra CLI are working *very* slow, such as zmprov (which I used to reset admin password) or zmcontrol...

Which operating system? Which version/release of Zimbra? Is your firewall and/or SElinux disabled? What does 'zmcontrol status', run as the zimbra user, show?

And, if running CentOS or RHEL, count the number of "/bin/unicode_start" processes you have (ps aux |grep unicode |wc -l).

zimbra@groupware:~/log$ ps aux |grep unicode |wc -l
1

Huh, I forgot to tell that I'ms using Debian Etch (4.0) so I had to tweak a little bit the installation process...

What does actually happen when you try and login to the admin ui?

I'm using Debian Etch Release 4.0 with ZCS Community version 4.5.1 for testing purpose. I don't have any firewalls or SELinux extensions activated.

zmcontrol status (as zimbra user) gives :

zimbra@groupware:~$ zmcontrol status
Host groupware.crbn.intra
antispam Running
antivirus Running
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Running
mta Running
snmp Running
spell Running

The result of this command took approximately 2-3 minutes to show.

OK, that's a very long time for that command to run.:confused: I forgot to ask the obvious questions: is there anything else running on this machine? Does it meet the minimum spec i.e. how much memory and what speed is it? Is it, by any chance, a VM you're running on?

I suppose the memory on the server doesn't meet the requirements but in fact, this is only a testing server only...

CPU : Xeon 2.4GHz
Mem : 512 Mb RAM + 1.5 Gb Swap
Enough disk space (about 40 Gb)

The memory seems to be DDR-ECC but I'll have to check when I'll be back on the testing site tomorrow.

And this is not a VM ;)

Me too. My suggestion would be more memory.

I don't know much about Debian, I'm afraid. I assume it's all up to date? No other server such as MySQL or Apache running on this machine? You've disabled any unnecessary services? Does this problem get worse the longer you've got zimbra running? What does 'zmlocalconfig | grep mem' (run as the zimbra user) show?
