In the Installation Quick Start, then System Requirements include
"Direct connection to the Internet and access to a DNS server".
But if in the intranet no DNS server and can't direct connection to internet,
can i install the zimbra and use it?

Yes. You just need to run a local instance of bind/named for DNS support. Also won't be able to send mail out since that requires internet access to relay the mail.
Thank you.Originally Posted by KevinH
If i send a local email to the local mailbox, i think the email don't pass through
the MTA(Postfix), so the zimbra server don't need the dns (include local instance of bind/named).
Is right?
Nope we go via postfix for several reasons. First users(even internal) may live on different mailbox stores. Postfix also gives us queueing so if something goes wrong the mail is not lost.Originally Posted by sshgz
