Question DNS - Bind Error

I've finally got Zimbra installed ok, with help from you here on the forums, thanks greatly

I've got zcs-4.5.1 GA open source running on SUSE 10.1

My error occurs when I'm setting up the split DNS, I try to start named and get this message

starting named server BIND /etc/named.conf:21 change directory to '/var/named' failed: file not found

I've followed the directions in the Wiki.

I'm hoping thins is something simple, does anyone have any ideas

Are you running openSuse or SLES 10 (enterprise)

If you are running enterprise zimbra WILL NOT work! (i speak from experiance)

did you manually edit the dns files or did you use yast?

To be honest, I'm not sure about the version of SUSE
I got it from an issue of APC Magazine, just said Suse 10.1?

I edited the files myself, in gedit, as from experience, YAST doesn't always seem to work with network stuff (samba - had to do it manually to )

Is it really that bad with enterprise? Which distro did you change to?

Whats the easiest way to check the suse version?

Thanks

Michael

Enterprise 10 is not supported. for a reason. SLES 9 was a joke to install.(THANKS ZIMBRA!!!!) Other than a minor issue, I had the server up and running in under an hour.

It has been my experience that when you edit DNS files it is imperative you match all tab stops and spaces. most fileds are tab separated. I had no issues using yast to setup my split dns.

Code:
cat /proc/version
will give you a "Version" not exactly what you'd expect though!

Thanks

Maybe I'll give it a try with YAST

Do you mean a joke - easy , or a joke - forget it ?

I really want to try this to see if it's worth pushing, what distro did you install it on in less than an hour?

Thanks again

Michael
