Default SLES10 DNS problem

I am trying to install the network edition on SLES10, ( i would install on SLES 9 but 9 does not support SATA drives very well.. Somthing i didn't know or think to look for when purchasing the server)

The install goes well until the dns lookup.. It seems that NAMED uses libldap-2.3.so.0.2.7 and when zimbra installs it uses version libldap-2.3.so.0.2.9 causeing the 100% working DNS server to stop working.

Any ideas how to rectify?

Here is the exact error message:
Code:
named: error while loading shared libraries: libldap-2.3.so.0: failed to map segment from shared object: Operation not permitted.

I don't understand why those libraries are causing you a problem, both versions are installed on my CentOS system and DNS is working fine for Zimbra and the rest of my LAN. Does this post from the forums help?

I'm sure you realise that SLES10 is an unsupported operating system, why don't you install SLES9 until the version of Zimbra for SLES10 arrives?

Thanks for the reply Bill I did try that.. (post)

I also do not understand why those libraries are causing a problem. They shouldn't conflict as they are in different locations.

The only reason that i am trying to run SLES10 is due to the fact i have a server with SATA drives.. SLES9 didn't like SATA.

I will have to purchase PATA or SCSI Drives to go down to SLES9.

SLES9 SP3 has much improved support for SATA.

Try doing your install from the SLES9 SP3 cdroms instead of from the SLES9 GA cdroms.

If you have name-brand hardware like HP or IBM, you can check their web sites (as well as Novell's) to find the exact extent of support for your hardware.

SLES10 will not work with Zimbra BTW.

All the best,
Mark

Login with your Novell account at the Customer Service Portal. Under your product registration for SLES9 choose the "Downloads" link and search for SP3.

Check if BIND is running on the SLES10 box.
