Default Source tarball

Hi All,

Is there any chance of you releasing a source tarball along with all the binaries?

While you can try put together an ebuild for gentoo from svn it makes downloads slower and means there's a bit of messing around in order to get a stable target rather than moving with trunk.

Thanks for your time.

Cheers,

Alan.

Hi Alan, and welcome to the Zimbra Forums. I'm afraid I don't know, but I've forwarded this onto someone, and you'll get an answer soon.

Thanks

We are working on making SVN easier to build and updating the build docs. If that still proves too slow or unavailable we'll go back to offering tarballs.

Hi All,

Thanks for that. It wasn't so much for the one off build I was concerned as it's doable. It's more for inclusion in the standard packages in gentoo.

They rarely (if ever) include an ebuild which sources from svn in the main tree.

For gentoo patches are required to change some of the paths it expects for various applications and these break unfortunately easily.

I'm not suggesting to ditch svn btw, just would be great if there was a source tarball per release as well.

Thanks very much for getting back to me so quickly.

Cheers,

Alan.

I second the request for tarball'd sources for each release. I'd like to use this in Gentoo as well.

TIA,
-Chris
