Default odd!

just tried again and getting the same result. However when I try to stop the services with zmcontrol stop I get an ldap error of:

ldap_url and ldap_master_url cannot be the same on an ldap replica

This is not a replica its on it's own and so I dont know why its reporting that but its repeatable every time. Obviously as it tries to stop the services it gets the error and believes it failed to stop (though they are all stopped) and bombs.

Working on 4.05 and reverting back all works as expected.

Any ideas?

Run a zmlocalconfig and paste the results.

Do you have an external authentication source set up?
Or do you auth directly to the zimbra server?

Okay, so here's your problem:
Code:
ldap_host = zimbra.domain.ext
ldap_is_master = false
ldap_log_level = 0
ldap_master_url = ldap://zimbra.domain.ext:389
ldap_port = 389
So try to run a
zmlocalconfig -e ldap_is_master = true

and try the upgrade again

Default Huuraahhh!

Yep, I noticed that just now, but assumed that it was set true only if there was a second LDAP somewhere. Partly that was informed by previous installs that had not bothered with it! Any ideas under what circumstances it could be changed without direct intervention? Can't think of a situation where it would have been changed deliberately!

Anyhow, upgrade now running past the failure, but just in case this thread is useful to anyone it doesn't like the spaces around the = to set to true ;-)

Many thanks for the help again, we must stop meeting like this! Coffee on me next time!

Sometimes users will try to get the zimbra box to auth against Active Directory. They'll change the properties in the admin ui, and forget to change them back.

No problem, and glad it's working. I hoped you followed the sticky for preparing your upgrade to 4.5GA

Sometimes it'll fail, and if it does, and you haven't done those steps. . .it can be bad.

Good luck, and please let us know if you need any further assistance.

All is now shiny and bright with 4.5 singing happily. But I always have many backups just in case ;-)

I will sleep better tonight!

Cheers
