Question OSE on Debian - installation troubleshooting

Greetings One and All

Currently evaluating both versions of zimbra - network edition on RHEL is looking good so far.

OSE on Debian is proving somewhat troublesome....

Server is:
o dual xeon c/w 2GB RAM
o debian stable
o 2.6.8-3-686-smp

Think we now have the box in the desired state - minimal install and pre-requisites loaded, but still no go with zimbra.

Zimbra install appears to complete. last actions ...
./install.sh -u
./install.sh

But ...

# zmcontrol status
Host XXXX.XXXXXXX.net
antispam Running
antivirus Running
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Stopped
tomcat is not running
mta Running
snmp Running
spell Running

Assistance with troubleshooting hints/docs much appreciated.

Thanks.

Default logging?

Whats in /opt/zimbra/log/zimbra.log? Try restarting Zimbra and then maybe grep for things like ERROR. Most likely if you tail the file right after Zimbra starts you'll get something about the failure.

If it's 4.5 that file is now called /opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log

Many thanks chaps

Yes, the problem was indeed related to logging. There was a permissions issue with a log file - don't recall which one now.

Permissions altered and all is rosy
