    Hi;

I'm new with this mail system and with CentOS. In my new job we have Zimbra 7.01 over CentOS 5.6 and I want to move forward.

I have the new zcs-7.2.3_GA_2872.RHEL5_64.20130304144832 to upgrade my 7.0.1 but I dont know how to.

I need step by step instructions.

    Thank you.

First think first, why you need to upgrading your system. Is there any error on current setup, or is this simply a requirement to move into bleeding edge system?

If you plan to upgrading your system, let's start with the documentation, read the release notes : http://files.zimbra.com/website/docs...otes_7.2.3.pdf

Release notes contains almost all of information you will need to upgrading your current Zimbra system. You may also find out whether your upgrading plan will solved your problem or not.

Don't forget to full backup your system to prevent any error while upgrading system.
    Best Regards

    Thank you for your response.

After reading these questions and recommendations, the idea is to have a better version possible in place, and replace this old one because the user have a lot of complains.

I need to know if moving to version 7.2.3 is a good idea or is better to move to version 8? Which one is the higher version of Zimbra for Free?

    Thank you for your help.

Zimbra Open Source is free and always will be.So ZCS 8 is also free :-).I recommend to move to ZCS 8.0.3 but for that you need to be on centOS 6 64 bit.So you essentially need a new server to upgrade.

    Hello jnr-urg,

First of all, you have to evaluate if your users complains it's related with a recent version, to do so, you have to test in a lab environment.

Regarding your question about 7.2.3 vs 8, apply my previous advice, i think.

Both branches 7 and 8 has FOSS versions.

Personally, i prefer to keep an existing installation in Zimbra 7, Zimbra 8 has a good set of new features, but again, as always there's a new bunch of features and for better a whole set of thirty part new software being integrated.

    Hope it's helps.

    ccelis.
