Default Admin Console Logon locks up on logon

I'm trying to get the Debian installer of Zimbra 4.0.5 working under sarge.

I've done the install, and the admin user can logon to the email interface. However when I attempt to logon to the Administration Console, from my desktop, it starts the logging in, then stops, saying "Loading..." in the message area, underneath the Zimbra logo, and the title "Administration Console". This is on a Debian Sarge desktop, with firefox.

If I type the incorrect password, then it rejects my logon, and tells me the password was wrong.

I've tried this also from a Windows XP box, and it works in both Firefox 2, and IE.

I've tried removing cookies, clearing my cache, and clearing my history. I allow all cookies. Anyone know what is going on?

Hmm.
Have you tried viewing the FF Error console?

I assume you mean the Javascript console (I'm running firefox 1.0.4, which is what comes in Debian sarge).

Yes, I did. It didn't have any messages.

I've also looked at output from syslog on the server, logs in /opt/zimbra/log/ and the tomcat logs in /opt/zimbra/tomcat/logs/. Nothing has given me any obvious clues about what is going on.

Firefox 1.5 is the minimum version required for Zimbra, it's been tested on that and earlier versions aren't guaranteed to work.
