Okay I know that would be better, but I only have one server on that location.
But why isn't this possible. I never experienced any problems with this before.
The strange this is that the firewall accepts everything on the LAN interface and I have not yet tested beyond that.

You may be able to get it working but it's not supported and it's more than 'nice' to have a separate server it's recommended. Technical details of 'why' I'm not too sure about as my experience with Linux firewalls is very limited. For instance, even if SElinux is in it's 'warn' mode it causes problems for Zimbra (and other software if it's on the same machine) despite the fact it's not supposed to do anything.

You have answered your own question though. If you have all the correct ports open (I assume you've checked the wiki for details) but it only works correctly when the firewall is off should say it all.
    Regards

    Thumbs up

Today I adjusted the default output chain policy to accept in my firewall.
    Now it works !!

Just migrated all accounts and mail data from my old mail server to Zimbra

Only one little thing. Sometimes when I restart Zimbra (did that a lot lately ) the permissions of /opt/zimbra/redolog/ are changed.
This gives the error "2007-01-04 22:05:26,863 FATAL [main] [] system - Aborting process
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: /opt/zimbra/redolog/redo.log (Permission denied)
" in zimbra.log and causes Tomcat to shutdown.
    Doing 'chown -R zimbra.zimbra /opt/zimbra/redolog' fixes this.

    Thanks guys!
