Default Transition from Outlook Express/POP3 Email

Hi,

Thanks for everyones help. So far the testbed is working just fine. The problem I have now is that all of my mail users are using Outlook Express and recieved their email via POP3. I wish to move all of their mail from local storage to the Zimbra server itself..many of them pushing 6g or so.

Is there a tool or utility that will help with this? I have seen the IMAP stuff but they did not use IMAP to the old server. With a few of the users I have created an IMAP connection to the Zimbra server and then recreated the individual folders and copied the mail from one folder to the other but that is exceptionally painful when there is so much data.

Thanks.

Default PST import wizard

If the users have huge amounts of data in their local .pst files, the easiest way may be to use the .pst import wizard. There's a wiki aricle on the import wizard itself as well as another on PST Import Wizard Tricks. Read them both before importing!

You can also import directly from a POP server using pop2imap.

Default Outlook Express To Zimbra

dkarp thanks for the info.

Outlook Express does not use any .pst files as far as I can find.

I looked at the pop2imap but that is on a per folder basis and requires a lot of hand work. Most of my users have more than 100 folders.

Thanks.

Default Pop3

Right but Outlook Express has many folders that all of the messages were downloaded via POP3 so the are not synced to something like IMAP would have.

The easiest way may be to import from Outlook Express into Outlook then use the PST import wizard.
