Default Zimbra modularity & some questions

Hi,

I'm seriously considering zimbra as a standard for our enterprise collaboration infrastructure.

What I'm not really fond of is "all in one" bundle.

I would really appreciate a possibility of separate configuration. For example, I'd like to run LDAP on a dedicated box.

And, I can't figure out which desktop client I can use for calendaring.

MS Outlook with a plugin, ok. But what about Evolution? Lightning for Thunderbird? Mac support?

AJAX Web UI is ok, but it eats too much CPU. Rich desktop client would be the better choice for us.

Regards, Stepan.

This should be possible, I believe.

We'll be supporting CalDAV in future releases. The Mac iSync plugin from the Network Edition will sync calendars for you.

You're running into the common issue that there's no calendaring protocol that's widely supported by clients at this point.

Well, you can use the IMAP client of your choice. With the Network Edition, you can use Outlook and/or the iSync plugin.

You can also use the HTML-only client in the next 4.5 release, but that doesn't seem like what you're after.
