I filed Bug 76071 – domain validation regex doesn't allow valid domain names. to track this. Work around would be to enter a separate domain (eg example.com) for the initial configuration and then create your real domain once the system is up and running via the Administration Console.
Based on your screenshot you'll also need a fully qualified hostname for the Host Name field. (eg mail.4wdesigns.com)
hello,
I downloaded the v8 beta5 virtual appliance and installed it on my ESX machine. however it installed automatically without asking me for defaut root/admin passwd.
now it is running but I am locked out.
what is the defaut root name account and its associated passwd ?
thank you.
find below a snapshot of the esx custom fields displayed.

As you can see at the end of the ova import process, no passwd, email domainname, nor administrative accounts is mentionned/visible.
Help much appreciated.
Phil.
The host name throws and error if you use the FQDN in the host name box (same type of error message). I have several other domains that are configured the exact same way, and they will pass validation if I use one of them - could it be the "4" ad the beginning of the domain?

Hi Guys,
Sorry to but in but have I can't even get my beta appliance to pick up a IP address.
Everytime it boots it picks up 127.0.0.1
Running it on VMWare Player for the testing.

Supported production deployments are targeted for vSphere and vCenter deployments only so that's where the majority of the testing was done. We plan to support fusion, workstation, player for trials by GA time and are aware of the issues around the initial networking setup. The bug tracking fixes for this is https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=75190
The workaround to manually configure networking is here https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=75190#c1
