Default Zimbra on Debian - impossible to access... why?

Hi!

I'm trying to install the opensource version of Zimbra on my Debian Sarge with kernel 2.6.11.7

The installation starts but when it arrive at the configuration not all the spaces are filled (ie. LDAPHOST..LDAPPORT.. SNMPTRAPHOST SMTPSOURCE etc..) and then I says that it is impossible to /opt/zimbra/tomcat/conf/keystore and conf/smtpd.key and conf/smtpd.crt and slapd and perdition.pem and .key...

so it tell me ugrade failed EXITING.

What I did wrong?

Thanks,

Emanuele

Welcome to the forums.

Did you disable SElinux & your firewall? Is your /etc/hosts file correct? Do you have DNS A & MX records pointing to your zimbra box?

Default SELinux and firewall are not present

I made a new installation removing all the previous configuration.

Now I think that it's all configured.. I only have a doubt about MX and DNS.

Installation ask me a hostname and a domain name.

I wrote one from my fantasy but it says that the name can be resolved by DNS... what I must do?

Thanks in advance!

Emanuele

You need to have DNS A & MX records set to point to your zimbra server, you'll also need the /ect/hosts file set correctly. Have a look in the Zimbra Quick Start guide for the hosts file and search for a thread titled 'DNS in a nutshell' for setting-up the DNS.
