Tomcat redo.log problem keep recurring

Hello all,

I find that the tomcat logs at /opt/zimbra/redolog/redo.log keep getting reverted back to being owned by root:root - so I have to follow the guide found here to fix the problem and I find I have to do this quite often, which is getting fairly annoying. How do I solve this problem and stop it from recurring?

It's a Debian kernel bug.

So if I use the latest kernel from kernel.org - that should be OK? As I'm running Debian Sarge and it's using the latest kernel available for Sarge.

Yeah,
That kernal version has a problem with permissions. If you use it, you won't have a stable version of ZCS.

FYI, I upgraded to kernel 2.6.18 on 25th Nov - not had a problem until today, and I just have found that the file had reverted back to root:root:

destiny:/home/piers# chown zimbra:zimbra /opt/zimbra/redolog/redo.log
