Default Problem Upgrading from 4.0.1 to 4.0.x

I had an error upgrading to 4.0.1. I think it had something to do with the documents not being properly setup from the 3.1 -> 4.0 move. When I upgrade from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2 the upgrade completes but I get a message about and INVALID_PDU when I attempt to login. If I try to push farther and upgrade the 4.0.2 to 4.0.3 it fails saying:

Restoring existing configuration file from /opt/zimbra/.saveconfig/config.save...done
Operations logged to /tmp/zmsetup.log.15204

Sun Nov 19 00:40:13 2006: Script failed with code 1 - exiting

Ultimately, I have to revert to my backup in order to recover.

Please help, I'd really like to get past this.

Thanks in advance.

This has been covered many times in the forums and a quick search would have found the answer. Try running /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmsetup.pl as root.

BTW, the current version is 4.0.4 and you might want to install that.

I'm sorry , I thought I looked thoroughly. I applied your patch and was able to get 4.0.2 to start succesfully, but it still giving the INVALID_PDU error in the webmail login. Should I start looking at tomcat?

Which operating system is this? Have you made any changes to the ports that Zimbra uses?

Debian 3.1. No I've not made any changes, but I can check to see if one of the other admins did. Catelina.out doesn't give anything useful. Looks like mail is coming in - but web and other clients can't connect.

I presume that all the services are actually running? Try a 'zmcontrol status' as the zimbra user. This problem is usually caused by a port change, you can also try clearing your browser cache.

Yes zmcontrol says all is well. There are also a gazzillion message defers in the logs.

like this:

Nov 19 10:12:52 localhost postfix/qmgr[27990]: 970C1CF8888: to=, relay=none, delay=0, status=deferred (delivery temporarily suspended: connect to banshee.XXXXX.com[10.2.3.137]: Connection refused)

also - zmprov won't work unless i do zmprov -l , otherwise i get html output that looks to be saying something about a servelet not working.

Code:
zimbra@banshee:/opt$ zmprov gacf

oh and just for reference - server is 3Ghz dual xeon, with 3G, and 230G HDD space. When zimbra is working it runs like a champ.

SElinux or firewall active on this system? Is DNS working? What does this return:
Code:
host `hostname`
Note they're backticks not quotes.
