Question Instalation ZCS 7.1.3 Fedora 16 x64

Hi, i trying install ZCS in Fedora 16, the first problem is the libstdc++.so.6 in folder /usr/lib, i solve this add a symbolic link os /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6 /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6, but after install, the menu not show, i try to execute the manual /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmsetup.pl and i recive this error: /usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error: /opt/zimbra/zimbramon/lib/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/auto/IO/IO.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Istack_sp_ptr. Someone know how to resolve this ?

The simple answer to that would be to install Zimbra on a supported platform, Zimbra is not bulit for Fedora 16 and it is not a supported platform. If you want a stable and reliable mail server then a bleeding edge distribution is not a suitable platform, I'd suggest you use CentOS 6 (and install the RHEL build) or Ubuntu LTS (if you must).

Hi Kidboy,

If you want to stick with Fedora, according to Open Source Edition Downloads: Enterprise Messaging and Collaboration Software by Zimbra, Zimbra supported platform for Fedora was Fedora 13.

as noticed by Phoenix, a bleeding edge distribution is not the main reason if you want to install Zimbra, preferably using a stable version with a longer support period.

Do you have any doubts about Ubuntu LTS ? It's a supported platform, how we Ubuntu users can take your mention?

That's correct, many people use it without problems.

If that's what suits you then use it, my comment was my opinion about Ubuntu - I don't like it (or Debian). I have a problem with package management in those systems and that rpm based systems (such as RHEL, SLES, openSUSE etc) provide better tools for package management. If you wish to see another comment about using dpkg/rpm for package management take a look at this post: Which Linux distribution for a MySQL database server? A specific point of view. - MySQL Performance Blog

Don't forget that the comments here are my opinion and you (or anyone else) can use any of the supported platforms for ZCS that suits you and that your comfortable with using.
