Providing Email Hosting Services with Zimbra

Hello,

We are interested in providing email hosting solutions to our customers and possible customer candidates.
What we've found so far is several well known hosting panels, or opensource solutions with not well-defined features.

Is it possible to offer email and collaboration suite services with zimbra ?

We will be selling professional services like HA, archiving, high speed and management.
We will be requesting from our customers to forward their mx records to our systems.

So, is it possible to offer such a service with Zimbra ?
Isn't $1 per mailbox per year high investmen ?
Is it possible to manage several different domains as we intented to do ?

I will be asking other questions after what we have to these questions.

You can provide hosted Zimbra as a service. HA is something that comes with the Network Edition ($1/month per mailbox will not likely cover licensing fees). If you want to use the Open Source system, you will need to develop your own HA solution. Also with the Open Source system, you will not receive any support from Zimbra; just best effort help in the forums.

You can manage as many domains in Zimbra as you want. If you have the Network Edition, you can provide users access to their own domains. If you have the Open Source systems, you do not have that option so you will need to create a custom control panel on your own to allow them to manage that.

As far as i understand, we need to select Zimbra Appliance or ZCS Network Edition.

Appliance seems to be packed and simplified product. But it seems, from your reply, we need to go with ZCS Network Edition.

I couldn't find license cost details and related software/hardware requirements.

I hope my inquiry answered as soon as possible by vmware.

In the mean time can you propose me possible solution for our project ?

Sounds like Zimbra Network Edition will do what you want.

For pricing, they have an online quote tool for you to play around with cost variables.

Compare editions

Based on your description including the words "management," "archiving" and "HA," you are wanting the Pro version of the Network Edition.

You did not specify but if you are wanting to make use of multiple domains and have MS Outlook users, that is another set of features in the Pro version.

As you mentioned, i need multiple domains as we want to host our customers email accounts in our systems, also most of the users are using ms outlook.
