Final Set-Up

Hi,

I cant finish my installation:

You must enable syslog to log statistics from remote machines.
a.

Edit the /etc/sysconfig/syslog file, add -r to the SYSLOGD_OPTIONS setting, SYSLOGD_options=”-r -m 0”

no such file on my CentOS 6 and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

b.
Stop the syslog daemon. Type /etc/init.d/syslog stop
c.
Start the syslog daemon. Type /etc/init.d/syslog start

And of course, this doesnt exist either.

Any tips ?

Edit: This is my version of syslog: rsyslog-4.6.2-2.el6.x86_64

ok I did this instead:

vi /etc/rsyslog.conf
add this: SYSLOGD_options=”-r -m 0” at the end

and use these commands to restart rsyslog:

service rsyslog stop
service rsyslog start

Maybe it will help a noob one day.
