Thumbs down Turneky Zimbra Appliance

I must admin, I am a newbie.

Part of my learning process of email server, I found excellent source which simplified the whole process. I have downloaded Zimbra Appiance based on ubuntulinux 10.04 from Turnkey site [ http://www.turnkeylinux.org/zimbra ]

Just downloaded the iso file and installed in my virtual system (using virtualbox), within 10 minutes, my system was up and running..... A great stuff for any new comer.

Now how to configure my domain in zimbra looks like a issue.

The instructions on the site are very limited.

************* The only instructions I found *****************

Includes custom zimbra-conf script to change domain, admin passwords and regenerate Zimbra related secrets.

/usr/local/bin/zimbra-conf DOMAIN ADMIN_PASS
# administrative user will be: admin@DOMAIN

Required RAM (minimal): 640MB
Mail DNS records example

mail 222.222.222.222 A
example.com. mail.example.com MX
example.com. v=spf1 mx ~all TXT
******************Ends the story ***************

I will be very happy to read further resource, if any.

Please guide if possible.

Thanks in advance.

You do realise, don't you, that the Appliance you've downloaded is nothing to do with Zimbra or these forums?

Why don't you ask for help on the Turnkey Appliance forums? You could always just install the binary version from the official download page (link at the top of this page) and install it on your choice of Supported distributions, there's plenty of Documentation (link also at the top of this page) and advice in the forums on how to install Zimbra.

I am very sorry. I will ask these questions on turnkey forum only.

I will also try to download the official version...

Thanks for quick reply...

It's no problem. I don't know how they've configured their appliance so you best bet would be a question to them.

It's probably just as easy to install the binary version as the appliance, it will require a bit of reading whichever version you use. What's your intended use for Zimbra, a private mail server?
