I think I had to make an MX record for the Zimbra server too but I guess I deleted it afterwards because it's no longer there.

I would create an A and MX record for 'directory-srv.kidquipment.com', install Zimbra and add the domain 'kidquipment.com' with the admin console.

Maybe Zimbra needs 'directory-srv.kidquipment.com' for spam training and anti-virus stuff.

Default [SOLVED] DNS and zmsetup.pl issue

Again, putting in the domain name instead of the FQDN of the host that install.sh was trying to use cleared up the DNS trouble.

DNS ERROR resolving MX for directory-srv.kidquipment.com
It is suggested that the domain name have an MX record configured in DNS
Change domain name? [Yes]
Create domain: [directory-srv.kidquipment.com] kidquipment.com

The ldap errors and a number of others appear to have been cleared by

yum update
