Default Installing ZCS on CentOS 5.5: zmsetup.pl/zmldapinit error
Hi,

zmldapinit is kicking out the following error, when I try to run zmsetup.pl:


IO::Socket::INET: Bad hostname '' at /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmldapinit line 137.
Mon Aug 22 15:29:20 2011 failed. (5632)

Before seeing this, I was having trouble with my host's name not resolving, A record and MX wise, but I believe I've set up the necessary entries for that. At any rate, the DNS-related errors that I was seeing before are gone.

I'm new to this forum, so if this problem has already been addressed in a different thread, please point me to it. I didn't have much luck when I tried to search for something.

Go to the Split DNS article and run all the commands in the 'Verify....' section and post the output here.

So, it looks like my recent (yesterday) DNS changes (A record for directory-srv and for putting directory-srv at MX pref = 10) have not gone into effect yet. Also, directory-srv should be but isn't looking to itself for name resolution.

Obviously, from those results, you have no A or MX records for the server and your hosts file is incorrect. You should only have one entry in the hosts file for the mail server (and the IP address) and the loopback line is also incorrect - read the wiki article for the required format of that file.

Ok, I'm able to resolve directory-srv.kidquipment.com from other machines on the internet, but zmsetup.pl is still failing with:

Installing LDAP configuration database...done.
Setting defaults...No results returned for A lookup of directory-srv.kidquipment.com
Checked nameservers:
127.0.0.1
216.154.208.5


DNS ERROR resolving directory-srv.kidquipment.com
It is suggested that the hostname be resolveable via DNS
Change hostname [Yes]

Default [SOLVED] Installing ZCS on CentOS 5.5: zmsetup.pl/zmldapinit error
Where this error was appearing:

DNS ERROR resolving MX for directory-srv.kidquipment.com
It is suggested that the domain name have an MX record configured in DNS
Change domain name? [Yes]
Create domain: [directory-srv.kidquipment.com]

Simply entering the domain name (kidquipment.com) instead of the FQDN that install.sh was trying to use, resolved the problem.
