Default Decouple Zimbra Community 7.1.2

It's been a while (a long while) since I looked at Zimbra. Back when I was looking at it, there were some ugly, not recommended hacks to decouple the MySQL (or was it Postgres?) instance and LDAP for those who had existing infrastructure and didn't want to put more up. I see that Zimbra can connect to external LDAP, but how about the database server?

Zimbra is designed to be the only application installed on a server and is also descending to be a complete suite of packages and are configured specifically for that. With that in mind, it's not possible to 'decouple' any of the packages.
