Default Zimbra POP and SMTP usage only

I want to Zimbra to only receive and send email using our existing domain POP and SMTP servers (eg: mail.domain.com for both servers). This is my 3rd install of Zimbra just trying all of it out. *LOL uninstalled it but postfix was giving me issues so i started fresh*. I have successfully setup SMTP authentication and my setup of fetchmail has been hit or miss. I have since change my domain MX records back to the way they were originally. Is there a way to have Zimbra receive and send without making changes to our MX and A records. All i want is to send and receive email at this time. I will be using getmail this time because of recommendations in the forums. We change the MX and A records back because the changes killed some of our sub-domains we had setup.

Thinking of another way to do this can I just use my DynDNS FQDN and use fetchmail and SMTP auth to send and recieve email. I have 5 different users.

If you have another mail server in your domain I don't understand why a Split Domain wouldn't do what you want?

I got that working I was just looking for other ways to get this to work. SplitDNS is kind of tricky to get going but if u stick with it it will work eventually
