No errors, but not sending/receiving mail

I'm new to Zimbra. I installed it on my server today and after a bit of struggling with getting it to work on the same machine as my Apache web server, it appears to work. That is, the web interface does not tell me anything is wrong, and neither does zmcontrol start/restart.

However, after creating a new email account in the admin interface and logging in as that user, I am not receiving any test emails from other email addresses, nor is anything I send from my Zimbra-created account arriving at other email addresses.

Since I'm completely new to Zimbra, what should I be looking for to fix this?

You need to look in the log files for any error and messages relating to the email account.
