Default [SOLVED] Please HELP !! ZCS server move

    hi all,

First off i had to do data transfer from my server drive to an external drive of the /opt/zimbra folder on my centos 5.x server. For some reason my software raid disapeared..

I used a live cd from ubuntu since a live cd from centos would not load at all.

I was able to copy the folder off.

I installed ubuntu 10.04 LTS.. and i followed these steps to get the basic working.

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Server (Hardy Heron) Install Guide - Zimbra :: Wiki

    Then i followed :
    » Zimbra :: Blog

everything worked fine till i reach the point of getting mysql started.. this is my error log

    "
110531 03:33:05 mysqld_safe Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /opt/zimbra/mysql-standard-5.1.55-pc-linux-gnu-i686-glibc23/var

110531 3:33:05 [ERROR] Can't start server: can't create PID file: Permission denied

    "

if i try to start mysql like "mysql zimbra" .. i get this error in the terminal :
"ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/opt/zimbra/db/mysql.sock' (2)
    "

CAN someone PLEASE help me.. i have spent over 2 days working on trying to resolve this plus why my server failed(hardware failure)

I am using the 7.1 FOSS..and my centos server before crash was 7.1 FOSS

    Problem resolved :
Warning: World-writable config file '/opt/zimbra/conf/my.cnf was the problem.. after a few hours and the lovely people on the zimbra irc channel on freenode ... it jsut came down to changing the permission on that file to 640 and zimbra now works..

All i have to do now is to get a replacement machine up soon... right now management is telling they want to switch over to exchange because of its more reliable and so forth.

Its werid how one can get blame for hardware failure
