Smile Working well

I hate to be a "Me Too" but...Me Too!
Last night I installed zcs-4.0.5_GA_518.UBUNTU6 onto an existing Xbuntu 6.06 (I think, although I may have run apt-get update && apt-get upgrade since the initial install) box.
I also setup fetchmail and will probably implement RulesDuJour pretty soon.
I had no real errors to speak of.
One thing that I did confirm was that it will not run on an OLD p200 with 64 MB ram... but then that was no surprise
Once I finally installed it on a more modern system (still only 500MB ram though) I had no real problems. The only things tweaked by hand were my relay host and my domain name in a couple of postfix files. Outside of that I am good to go....except for the graphs and I think I just found a thread that includes a fix for them.
Overall I was very impressed with the installation and with the product so far. I am testing this version at home with fairly modest requirements ( a handful of users and 3 domains) but would really like to eventually roll a version out to some of our sites at work.

This is just another example of the great systems that can come from open source type software (not to mention the community of support that is available.).

Thank you;
James

PS If you want to know anything specific about my settings I would be happy to post the content of any files, etc...

Thumbs up

Kudos to the Zimbra team again.

I have had a hacked 4.0.2 (upgraded from an early 3.something) running on my Ubuntu VServer for over a year now and thought I'd take the plunge and upgrade to 4.5 RC2.

It was a hiccup free upgrade and the only thing I had to modify were a few setting to make things work in a vserver. Even logging and graphing worked without the fix in the first post!

Using pacsteel's post I compiled the howto and put it on my personal webpage for reference and added a few helpful things from comments and my own personal helps I needed. Its all compiled and laid out here if anyone likes and wants to reference it. Thanks

Default 4.5.1 Upgrade

Has anyone upgraded Ubuntu Zimbra 4.0.5 to 4.5/4.5.1?

Do we need to do the MySql proc table fix?

I didn't upgrade to 4.5 because of the spam filtering bug, but now want to go to 4.5.1 from 4.0.5 and wanted to see if anyone has already done this.

cheers

Bertie

The bug in MySQL shouldn't affect you if you go straight to 4.5.1, obviously take a backup beforehand.

It worked!

Logged in to server, changed to su ('sudo bash')

Dowloaded, unzipped, untar'd the Ubuntu 4.5.1 package.

Copied /opt/zimbra to /opt/zimbra-backup

run install.sh from 4.5.1 package, followed prompts and let it do it's thing.

No need for the MySql 'proc' table fix, or anything else. Stopped and started itself.

That's because a workaround is incorporated in 4.5.1.

I"m a little confused how things could be okay if you can't do a zmcontrol status

That means that LDAP hasn't started.

Try
sh -x ldap start

And let's see what you get.
