I installed Dapper on another machine and zimbra is up and running fine. I can read and send mail from
Code:
user@mail.mydomain.com
. Once question though, what settings would I change (and where) to have mail delivered and sent from
Code:
user@mydomain.com

There's no reason to have the machine name in the email address...

Thanks!
BT

What I did was add a new domain, YMMV. (This isn't an issue specific to Ubuntu by the way, if you start a new thread to ask this question you might get responses from people who have a clue instead of just me.)

When logged into Zimbra as admin, go to Configuration, Domains, and add a new domain.

Then add mydomain.com and set your users up with that as their domain.

Thanks for the info. I did add the new domain and it works like a charm. If I can figure out the admin/backup/maintenance aspects, I think Zimbra will work for me.

Thanks for the help!

Default Zimbra on Ubuntu Xen DomU

Thank you for your excellent Install guide on Ubuntu .I could get Zimbra running on the XEN DomU Ubuntu 6.06 LTS.

:~$ zmcontrol -v

Release 4.0.3_GA_407.UBUNTU6 UBUNTU6 FOSS edition

It was a bit tricky to get the Zimbra installed on a domU because of the NPTL .

Here is what I did to install on Zimbra on Xen DomU

I followed the Instructions to create the Xen Dom0 and the DomU as per the link http://www.howtoforge.com/xen_3.0_ubuntu_dapper_drake .During the installation of the DomU just skip the following line

Disable Thread-Local Storage if it has been updated.

mv /lib/tls /lib/tls.disabled

if you do not skip this line the UBUNTU DomU will not Load the NPTL libraries.

After you finish the GuestOS .Install Zimbra as per the instructions on the Begining of this thread

Here is my log...

Any ideas?

The error message is:
/opt/zimbra/bin/ldap: 32: source: not found
FAILED (256)

Before i had ubuntu 6.06 with zimbra 4.0.1 debian version and now i have upgraded my system to edgy and make some test:
- only upgrade to 4.0.3 (source error)
- rollback to my backup (source error)
- fresh install 4.0.1 (source error)
- fresh install 4.0.3 (source error)

I have discovered "source" is a built-in bash command:

$ dpkg -l | grep bash
ii bash 3.1-5ubuntu3 The GNU Bourne Again SHell

Thank you for suggest...

Thumbs up

Firstly, huge thanks for the install guide. Followed it no real problems. Used Ubuntu 6.06 Server CD (i.e not DVD) realease.

Couple of things I found that I thought I'd report back:

1) I didn't have to uncomment anything in /etc/apt/sources.list, was good as it was.

2) Bind didn't install (Don't know why) so I went straight for Bind9 and followed the bind config instructions but put the forwarders in /etc/bind/named.conf.options and zone in /etc/bind/named.conf.local

3) Second lib mod (/opt/zimbra/libexec/zmgengraphs) was line 28 not line 30

Cheers

Bertie

P.s. I have written a Sendmail/Pop3/Imap migration guide to Ubuntu zimbra here Guide to Migrate from Sendmail/Pop3/IMAP to Ubuntu Zimbra

Strange issue
I had no trouble getting Zimbra installed on the machine, but am not able to access any of the administration pages or log in pages. I did an nmap scan of the machine, and none of the listed ports are open yet....Zimbra is running.

from what I understand I should be able to go to:
https://localhost:7071/zimbraAdmin/ and get something -- is this correct or do I need to dig a bit further in my configs and find an alternate port?

Thanks in advance.

JM

That's the correct url and port for the admin console. What does zmcontrol status report?

Question ZCS 4.0.3 install fails on ubuntu dapper 6.06

I followed the excellent guide posted here. As You can see I now face some errors, and I have absolutely no idea how to satisfy the install procedure since no detailed error messages are provided. Any idea or suggestions are very welcome.

I run a 32 bit ubuntu VMware guest OS (mailserver) on a sun V20 server aMD 64 bit host OS (Also ubuntu).

I have allocated 512 MB ram and 10 GB initial harddisk space.

I have carefully followed the guide posted here, so all needed packages should be installed at this point.

Best regards, Daniel Mersebak
