Default Installation FAILS to start on SLES 11

The installer complains about not finding gmp, sysstat & sqlite.
These have been installed and the OS verifies that they are there YET the install steadfastly refuses to run.

Perhaps some help available ? suggestions ?

You'll need to provide a bit more information than 'it doesn't work'. - it's not exactly easy to give you an answer otherwise.

What's the status of the services? What messages do you get when you start Zimbra? If you're behind a NAT router (or firewall) have you set-up a SPlit DNS? If you've set-up a Split DNS have you run all the command in the 'Verify...' section of that article to confirm the settings? What's the specification of the hardware? Is this install on a VM and if it is, how much RAM? What errors do you see in the log files when you start Zimbra? Does your SLES have SP1 installed (it's required)? Have you searched the forums for a solution to your problem?

The installer ceases to run. It complains about missing software and asks if I want to continue, I say "Y" and it quits with message can not continue ...
I never get zimbra anything running.

Spent 6 days trying to get any version of zimbra to install on any linux - Appliance, Open Source, Network - all have odd problems.
This is the first time any one has bothered to even suggest any solution - congrats and thanx
I have 10gb of RAM and 1tb of striped disk. 2 x xeon 2.5 GHz dedicated playroom.

Are the any errors in the install log file?

You missed answers to some of the questions I asked: have you installed SP1 on this SLES; do you have a Split DNS set-up (required if you're behind a NAT router); have you run the commands in the 'Verify...' section of the Split DNS article to check your DNS & hosts file

ZCS uses rpm to query the RPM DB to find if a package is installed. It sounds like you installed those packages via some unsupported method so they do not show up as being installed. You need to fix that first.

Only packages installed were during the os installation. Prior to installing zimbra 7 I went through and removed all of the software not required.
Used the package manager in SLES.
My preferred solution is to get the appliance working - I only tried this out of desperation.
Thanx for the feed back. Can someone look at ova deployment fails to start - LDAP and Mailbox DEAD and give me a hand to get the appliance to run ?

Just wanted to say I have seen this also in test environment. Reports missing gmp, sqlite and systat. Installed systat via YaST and it recognizes it but does not recognize sqlite or gmp. Running zypper install sqlite from command line says latest version installed, nothing to do.

Please look at the commands the installer executes to verify if a package is run, and see what output you get. Perhaps the rpm db is corrupt (I've seen that happen on RHEL systems)

Ran rpmdb --rebuilddb, then reran install.sh. Same result.
Will look at the script next.

gmp is bignum. On my SLES11 box:

zre-sles11-64:/home/build # rpm -q gmp
gmp-4.2.3-10.99
