Now the mail gets stuck in the Active queue.

I am unsure at this point, but I like the route you are taking. So let me see if I can change some settings and find the answer.

If this won't work, I am out of my wits.

My limitation, sorry! I am trying to learn, too.

Can someone suggest the course of action that can be taken now?

Brianpwolfe, are you still having the same problem? I just saw your thread today and I am having the same problem, except I can't get the mail to leave the deferred queue. Any progress?

Please post some details about your operating syste, DNS setup etc. You may have the same stup as the original poster but we're not psychic here.

I don't think that MX record is correct, you should have it in this format
    Code:
    @ IN MX 10 hostname.mydomain.com.
and you're also missing the trailing period '.' plus the CNAME records as it is in this post

My problem was that my hosting company required that all mail go through their server. I have a dedicated box, so I thought I was ok, but they had set up some sort of a block.

Depending on your setup, see if you have to route all mail through another host, either with your isp / hosting company.
