Question Correct Installation procedure?

Is it Zimbra has any correct installation procedure? Itsnot working some time. I had Resinstalled it and installed the new 4.1 version. Now the error is mysql is not started. But the mysql is correctly working as root. What should we do?

First, there isn't a version 4.1 of Zimbra - the current version is 4.0.2 (did you mean 4.0.1?). It's difficult to tell what your problem is without a better description. Which version/release of zimbra are you using? Which operating system? Are there any messages in the zimbra logs? Were there any errors in the install log?

Question Reply

Thank u for ur fast reply. We r using Zimbra 4.0.1. and MySQL 5.0.24a. My machine is Dell power edge 2800 with 2 GB RAM. I am using RHEL 4 -32 bit. There is no error in installation. After that when checking the services the mailbox and logger is not starting
[zimbra@LNXSVR01 root]$ zmcontrol status
Host lnxsvr01.ikm.in
antispam Running
antivirus Running
ldap Running
logger Stopped
logmysql.server is not running
zmlogswatchctl is not running
mailbox Stopped
mysql.server is not running
mta Running
snmp Running
. When we connect to mysql as root its connecting. But as zimbra user we cant connect to mysql error is listed below

[zimbra@LNXSVR01 root]$ mysql
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/opt/zimbra/db/mysql.sock' (111)
[zimbra@LNXSVR01 root]$

The mysql.sock not exist on that location. What should we do to it. We are confusing with this error. Would u please help me.

Well, there are so many possible ways to diagnose the problem.

what do you get when you type:
su zimbra
mysql.server start

?

We need to see your log file
/var/log/zimbra.log
